TUBER-TUB 2000 TO DEBUT AT THE OWEN SOUND FARMER’S MARKET

The LocalMotive Project and Saugeen River CSA invite the media and the public to polish some tubers on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 9:30 AM at the Owen Sound Farmer’s Market.

The Tuber-Tub 2000 is a pedal-powered root veggie washer built by Shane Jolley for the Saugeen River Community Shared Agriculture farm. Cory Eichman, owner of the Saugeen River CSA has been exploring ways to reduce dependence on electricity and fossil fuels, through the use of human and animal power. The Tuber-Tub 2000 provides an efficient solution for the CSA to wash root vegetables as well as providing a focal point for the discussion of energy dependence.

Cory & Shane will be on hand to discuss local solutions to the challenges of energy and food production.

Attendees are encouraged to bring some root veggies to wash from their gardens.
